The OST of film Drive My Car by Eiko Ishibashi is coming out 18 August
Drive My Car is a film based on Haruki Murakami’s short story of the same name, directed by the Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize winner Ryusuke Hamaguchi. The film won the Best Screenplay at Cannes 2021, and will hit the road worldwide in late August.
Composer Eiko Ishibashi has created music for a number of films, stages, and exhibitions, as well as her own records released by labels such as Drag City,Editions Mego, and Black Truffle.
Ishibashi arranged the OST into an album. With the soundtracks laying the foundations and sound effects from the film added, she creates a story of great originality.
Performers include Jim O’Rourke, Tatsuhisa Yamamoto, Marty Holoubek, Toshiaki Sudoh, and Atsuko Hatano , with mixing and mastering from Jim O’Rourke.
Music video of “Drive My Car (Kafuku)” directed by Ryusuke Hamaguchi will be released on 17 August.
2021年度カンヌ国際映画祭脚本賞を受賞した原作: 村上春樹、監督: 濱口竜介による映画「ドライブ・マイ・カー」。石橋英子によるオリジナル・サウンドトラックが発売決定。
世界中に熱狂的ファンを持つ作家・村上春樹が、2013年に発表した短編小説「ドライブ・マイ・カー」。この珠玉の名作が日本映画界・若手実力派No.1の呼び声高い濱口竜介監督により映画化。2021年度カンヌ国際映画祭コンペティション部門にて日本人監督初となる脚本賞を受賞し大きな注目を集める中、いよいよ8月20日に全国公開となります。
本作のサウンド・トラックを手掛けたのは、日本を拠点に活動しながらも海外レーベルからの作品リリース、ヨーロッパ等での国外ツアー・フェスティバル出演、シドニーの美術館Art Gallery of New South Walesでの音楽制作など、世界を股にかけて活躍する音楽家、石橋英子。
邂逅すべく宿命にあったと感じる、濱口竜介×石橋英子によるオリジナル・サウンドトラックが映画公開直前の8月18日に発売決定。２つのメロディーから解き放たれた、１０の音楽たち。映画のために書き下ろした音楽を、１つの音楽作品として新たに構築。映画と共に、光彩を放つ傑作です。これまでもオリジナル作品を制作してきた仲間たちジム・オルーク、山本達久、マーティ・ホロベック、須藤俊明、波多野敦子が参加し、アコースティックな生演奏からエレクトロニクス、映画本編で使用された環境音までが見事に融合したアルバムになりました。ミックスとマスタリングはジム・オルークによるものです。
ジャケット・デザインは石橋の作品を数多く手掛ける木村豊(Central 67)、ジャケット・イラストは赤尾真代が映画のビジュアルをモチーフに描き下ろした。
